The Zimbabwe Republic Police has been at odds with the masses once again. As usual, they crushed a show uninvited. This time they almost shut down DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small show that took place in Bulawayo in Zimbabwe.

The two Amapiano DJ's namely DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small form the group ‘Scorpion Kings’. The duo was booked to perform in Bulawayo on 22nd of January night for the Grand Music Fest at Eyadini joint.

In true Zimbabwe Police Style, as they were about to perform, the police emerged and attempted to shut down the show.

This did not got well with the masses. As the police made attempt to stopKabza De Small and Dj Maphorisa from performing, the crowd got agitated and started chanting ‘Into Oyenzayo Siyayizonda’ protest song.

The much anticipated show, however, went ahead as planned. According to those present at the venue, the promoters managed to negotiate with the police and were given the green light after midnight.

DJ Maphorisa is scheduled to do more shows in Zimbabwe and is currently in Harare for his performance at Pabloz.

A brief history into DJ Maphorisa's performances in Zimbabwe shows us that this is not the first time their Bulawayo show has been a bit chaotic. Back in 2020, DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small show at Bulawayo’s BAC Leisure met the wrath of their fans as they protested over continuous power cuts and stoppages that disturbed the flow of the show.

During that said show, Kabza De Small and DJ Maphorisa had a torrid time navigating their way to the DJ’s box as dozens of fans mobbed them.

Just after they got into the booth to begin their show, power was cut off.

The continuos power cuts triggered unrest among present fans. They resorted to their usual ‘Into Oyenzayo Siyayizonda‘ chant to registere their displeasure.

A few minutes later, the show resumed after the backup generator kicked in.
