. Nandos has terminated its sponsorship of Gareth Cliff's burning platform following a racist incident. Nandos posted a Statement following the outrage from the public over an interview on his show after he dismissed racism struggles as 'unimportant'
Tweeps called on Nando's to say something about the matter, as the sponsor of the show.
"We know that you know what happened in the exchange between the panelists on The Burning Platform on 21st October 2021. We are a proudly South African brand that takes the right to freedom of speech very seriously" Nandos tweeted.
The show was sponsored by Nandos for five years. During the interview, the broadcaster claimed that race was at the bottom of the list for South Africans. People were outraged and called him a racist. After the incident, Nandos tweeted it and supported the right to freedom of speech. Gareth Cliff has yet to respond.
