South Africa Broadcasting Corporation news anchor Noxolo Grootboom is on top of the trend list as she is bowing out of the screens at the age of 61.
The beautiful Xhosa speaking icon joined the SABC in her twenties as a typist and never looked back as she managed to climb up the ladder until she became a household name as she anchors the news for the corporation.
A #NoxoloGrootbom was initiated and it stayed on top of the trend lush the entire day on Tuesday as South Africans waited to see the News Queen read the bulletins at 19:00 as she bids the SABC and its viewers goodbye.
To honour her, President Cyril Matamela Ramaphosa who has scheduled to address the nation also decided to move his address to 19:30 in order to allow South Africans to watch the news on SABC 1 and bid Noxolo farewell.
A video showing how she reacted to the Presidential gesture shows the 61 year old emotional upon hearing what the President did in her expense.
She was dressed for the occasion and could not hold back her tears as she said he famous closing line which everybody knows her for, she wept and her emotions got better of her as she bowed out and South Africa loved her.
"Ndin' tshanḓa no ke e makhaya," she said with tears rolling down her chins as she couldn't contain how emotional she is.
