Idols has never been able to escape controversy and drama especially off air. The judges on Idols have always been dismissed for various infringements in their personal lives. The show continues to change judges as a result.
First it was Gareth Cliff who was let go following his controversial comments on social media. Usually when the judge is facing any case against them the show lets them go to avoid bad publicity.
The second was the fan favorite Somizi Mhlongo who was dismissed following Gender Based Violence charges against him laid by his ex husband Mohale.
Now it is alleged that Unathi Nkayi will also be asked to step aside following media posts that let to her dismissal at one of the radio stations. Apparently the show wants to give her a chance to solve her issues.
On a positive note though, Somizi is rumoured to be coming back for season 18. The auditions for season 18 will start on the 23rd of January.
