The late Lebo Mathosa was one of South Africa's brightest artists, dancers, and too many people, regarded as the finest cultural asset of the country due to her immense talent. Some go as far as saying that she was an intensely disturbing genius and performance artist.
When it comes to music, one loves or not according to taste, but never ignored. Mathosa pushed boundaries for years until her life was unfortunately cut short in a car accident.
She could sing and had a rich, commanding, and strong voice. A great lyricist of her time, one with sheer beauty. And although many fail to compare her to anyone, Mampintsha, Babes Wodumo's husband, believes that his wife looks like Lebo Mathosa.
In a viral video shared on Twitter by Musa Khawula, Mampintsha, and her babes were flaunting their love and happiness, and just after she kissed him on his cheek, Mampintsha realized that his wife's beauty is like that of Mathosa.
In one documentary to tell the life of Lebo Mathosa, it was a very tall order for actress Khanyi Mbau to play a uniquely gifted artist such as the mercurial Lebo. It is not clear if the director could not find unknown talent with the look, spunk, and stage charisma of the departed Lebo.
Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson were great artists in a class of their own but had legends of talented look-alikes who can stage convincing shows that look real. Can one truly say the same for Lebo Mathosa? Her unique talent is hard to copy, and so far, she does not have a look-alike unless her replica is still unknown. A look-alike with talent will be a bonus.
Babes Wodumo is beautiful and talented in her way, but, in my opinion, she does not look like Lebo, nor do they share the same talent.
