The Miss Soweto 2020 was on Last Night, See Who Took Away the Crown and The Grand Prize of R100 000.

The 41st annual Miss Soweto beauty pageant was aired last night on Mzanzi Wethu, DSTV's channel 163 at 6pm. It took place at the Soweto Theatre in Jabulani on the 28th of November 2020 but was only aired last night for the whole country to watch. The beauty pageant had 20 ambitious, self-driven and passionate young girls who were fighting for their chance to be the Miss Soweto 2020 titleholder.

Out of those 20 young girls, there was one girl in particular who stood out and that was Thobile Steyn who took away the Miss Soweto 2020 crown. Thobile is from an area in Soweto called, Diepkloof were she was born and raised. She joined the Miss Soweto competition with the hopes of taking away the crown and that's exactly what she did.

Thobile did not only win the Miss Soweto beauty pageant as the Soweto beauty also won the Miss Congeniality title. This a title is offered to one of the beauty pageant's contestant, as that contestant showed parts of herself that made her qualify to win the title.

The Miss Soweto title came with a cash prize of R100 000 which added to the R5000 that Thobile had won already from being the beauty pageant's Miss Congeniality. Other prizes that Thobile Steyn won include a brand new Toyota Starlet which she will use to drive her around, a year's worth of beauty pamperings from Candi & Co and a year's worth supply of evening dresses from Eli Ball.

Thobile was even more happy on the day she was crowned Miss Soweto 2020 as Diepkloof born beauty was also celebrating her 21st birthday. Winning the Miss Soweto 2020 title and all the gifts and benefits that come along with it was definitely a huge present to Thobile for her 21st birthday. Can anyone else be as lucky as her? We don't think so.

Filled with excitement, Thobile shared how she felt about the whole thing to a local publication and this is what she had to say, “I’m feeling overwhelmed. I don’t have words to define how I am feeling. I’m still shocked. I’m sure it will sink in once I begin to do things that I have been wanting to do during my reign. Everyone has been congratulating me.”

Her first and second princess's, Anathi Conjwa and Kutloano Moloi, respectively were not left empty handed as they also awarded cash prizes for being those titleholders. Anathi was awarded R25 000 while Kutloano was awarded R10 000.

After all the winners had been announced, including the above mentioned, the organizers of the beauty pageant took to social media to congratulate all of them on their winnings.

This is what they had to say, “The new Queen of Soweto has been crowned! Congratulations to Thobile Steyn who has officially begun her reign as #MissSoweto2020. And congratulations to Anathi Conjwa and Kutloano Moloi who will be supporting Thobile in their roles as 1st Princess and 2nd Princess, respectively. We would like to share a huge thanks to our co-sponsors, Toyota SA, Eli Ball, Candi & Co, K-Mile Models and Designer Photo. You helped us make the 41st year of this wonderful pageant one to remember for many years to come.”
