THE controversial podcastsers, MacGyver "MacG" Mukwevho and his co host, Sol Phenduka have landed in trouble once again and this time, the third sponsor has pulled out from sponsoring this controversial podcast.
In January, they lost a sponsor of Old Mutual because of their transphobic remarks, as such the Old Mutual decided to cut ties with them.
In a statement, the insurance company said
"As a responsible business that fully respects the rights of everyone, we have decided to terminate the relationship with MacG, with immediate effect.
"We distance ourselves from the harmful commentary against the LGBTQI community and humanity at large," read the statement.
In the next month, February to be precise, another sponsor pulled out too for the same reason, transphobic remarks.
Studio 88 issued a statement distancing themselves from Podcast and Chill because of transphobic slur, as a result they terminated their contract.
"The Studio 88 Group stands firmly against the harmful and offensive comments and statements made by MacG during one of his recent Podcast and Chill with MacG episodes, as same goes against our core values and beliefs as a company group in South Africa.
"In light of the above, the Studio 88 Group wish to distance ourselves completely from the aforementioned statements, podcast and its host(s).
"We have, therefore, decided to terminate with immediate effect, any business/ sponsorship relationship we may have with MacG", read the statement.
It is crystal clear that the duo does not learn anything from their mistakes as now it is for the third time, they're embroiled in trouble for the same utterances.
On Wednesday, the alcohol beverage brand, Amstel became the latest brand to distance themselves and withdraw their sponsorship of the show following their transphobic comments.
In a recent episode, MacG and Sol were discussing cheating scandal involving former Generation's actor, Vuyo Dabula
Phenduka used the transphobic slur "trannies" to describe a group of transgender people.
That received lot of criticism from the public as it led to Amstel issuing a statement cutting ties with the podcast.
"The Amstel brand, locally and globally, is centred around friendship and inclusion of all people, regardless of gender, race or sexual orientation without discrimination, and we distance ourselves from any transphobic and homophobic views.
"We have officially parted ways with Podcast and Chill with MacG and will no longer be a partner as of December 1,2021."
