OPINION:What causes unemployment of educators in South Africa?

There was a time in South Africa when over the decades it was known that if you have an Education qualification you are most likely employable.

You wouldn’t be out of work for long because there was a shortage of teachers in schools. There was somewhat a balance in the demand and supply of teachers in the profession.

More recently, there is an influx of teacher graduates and schools do not have enough capacity to absorb them.

In addition, teacher graduates can be without work for even five years now or more at the same time the hiring process is 18-35 years which is more painful.

There are many unemployed graduates teachers who still unemployed until now.

A lack of education and training is considered the root cause of unemployment in South Africa. Here are some reasons why the education system is failing the youth; A lack of requirement skills.

Teachers are having experience they gain through teaching practicals. What happens now is that instead of hiring more teachers there's teachers assistants.

Our government conclude that there's no money to employ teachers but funza lushaka beneficials are employed every day.

Is there any truth in our country, do graduates unemployed educators need to go to other countries for jobs because it is clearly now that they have been suffering so much.

What is the future this country if we are still facing such cruel conditions. Is there any hope at all. Can I encourage my child to be teacher in future or not?
