SAD: This boy is resuming school now, in the middle of the year and at elderly age because of this.

Thohoyandou – it’s a very interesting day indeed for the 9-year-old boy and his family after years of struggle, Siyabonga is back learning at School three years after some schools refused to admission because his mother didn't make birth certificate after bearing.

Siyabonga Ziqbu’s (9) birth was not registered which compelled a price of him not going to school, the 9-year-old male pupil from Alexandra last attended a grade R class in 2017 after which He was denied admission because Siyabonga’s parents and family didn’t register his birth to the Department of Home Affairs.

Unlike other pupils, Siyabonga wont enjoy the first day at school like other children due to delays and frustrations that resulted into staying at home for years while his peers are enjoying the right to Education.

His grandmother expressed the situation during an interview with Newzroom Afrika after the child was admitted. She tells media that for years the family has attempted to get Siyabonga enrolled after pre-school but unfortunately applications were declined because they didn’t have Identity documents required while applying for enrollment.

However, all children are entitled to the right to Education, that is school admission team has not right to turn any potent pupil away while parents may be held accountable for withholding a pupil home against attending school.

Thus, Siyabonga’s situation as He resume with school activities may require extra support. He joined the Grade 1 class at the late stages and most saddening during the period of Covid-19 time-sucking pandemic.

However, it seems as the pupil will enjoy some extra support since the issue has reached the ears of the MEC of Education in the Gauteng Province, and the sector seemingly committed to assist.

Speaking to media, Both the 9-year-old boy and his grandmother appeared relieved because grievances has been answered to. The old woman told media that while it was ‘the pupil mother’s’ mistake of not registering the child during birth she would sleep a peaceful night because the child is going to school lately.

“I used to hide and tell him not to go out because the peers could notice Siyabonga’s presence at home while he’s constantly not going to school “, She added.

The 9 year old boy eventually made it to school after three years of a struggle to enroll.
