Nkosinathi Sishi has been declared as the new chief general (DG) of the Department of Higher Education and Training.
Sishi replaces Gwebinkundla Qonde, who was suspended before his agreement ended on 6 September.
In an assertion, Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation Blade Nzimande said Sishi was allowed a five-year contract, what begins 1 November.
"Dr Sishi has 35 years practice in the various circles of government and at state possessed ventures, including the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa, in which he went about as its CEO. He is right now the top of the Driving License Card Account Trading Entity of the branch of transport."
