Eastern Cape Grade 12s Write Mathematics in IsiXhosa

Mathematics have been problematic to many learner and some of them have failed the subject dismally with embarassing marks.

With so many learners struggling like that, the Eastern Cape Department of Education have taken drastic measuress at least help the learners get better marks which will help them get admission in tertiary institutions.

Grade 12 learners in that part of the country write their Mathematics paper in their home language IsiXhosa, all the papers, Paper 1 and Paper 2 came in IsiXhosa with a little bit of English translation to some words on the paper.

Mathematics is in other parts and have always been written in English, now it seems we might see all learners having to write their Math paper in their own mother tongue.

In other changes, the National Department of Basic Education have decided to scrap examinations for grades 10 and 11 and they will only write tests to determine their readiness to move to the next grade.
