Only four days left for schools to reopen for term three. But things can change on Sunday night.

School has been out for three weeks now. Initially the school holidays were supposed to be two weeks only. They were extended by a week when the president kept the country under alert level four.

Teachers across the country have been receiving vaccines which will help with the return to school. Teacher unions have long been complaining about the safety of their members.

According to the new school calendar and the government gazette, schools will reopen on the 26th July. Many are worried especially with the country still going through the third wave.

South Africa is still recording more than 10 000 cases daily. Private hospitals are still experiencing high volumes of admissions due to the Delta variant.

The primary school learners will all return back to school from the 2nd of August 2021. Scientists believe that children are not easilleaffected Covid-19 .

The country is under level four, and the level might continue beyond the 25th. If president keeps the country under level four, schools will have to continue.
