As government schools reopens tomorrow the department lays down the law for learners. See the list

Tomorrow, teachers and students will be welcomed into government colleges. For the past week, government schools have been closed.

Before the pandemic, the autumn recess used to be two weeks long. Teachers returned on the 1st of February, while students returned on the 15th of February 2021, due to the late start.

Bullying has been more common in public schools in recent years. The most recent victim was a student at Mbilwi Secondary School in Limpopo's Vhembe district. Later, the girl committed suicide. The incident shook the nation to its foundations.

In a recent communique, the Department of Basic Education outlined the rules for students when they return to school tomorrow morning. Here is a set of laws that students must obey.

a. Recognize that the primary purpose of school is to learn and grow academically; b. Follow school rules; and c. Respect teachers' legitimacy and authority.

d. Avoid antisocial behaviors such as theft, vandalism, assault, sexual harassment, alcohol and drug abuse, and other activities that interfere with learning.
