Bad news for SASSA applicants

JOHANNESBURG - Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane has said an assessment concerning the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has found that there was pointless deferral in allowing new arrangements for the dispersal of food packs in different regions at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. 

She gave a report on different assessments that found maladministration in substances like Sassa. 

The assessment was incited by a complaint held up in July 2020 by Advocate Paul Hoffman of the Institute for Accountability in Southern Africa. 


In her last report, Mkhwebane said named expert centers were left with colossal stores of food in stockrooms, on account of the weakness about the increase of their arrangements to give food bundles. 

She said Sassa fail to pass on organizations and help as various families were left without food groups during a significant time during the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Mkhwebane furthermore investigated whether Western Cape Premier Alan Winde fail to circle back to the charges of stupid direct by MEC Anton Bredell, which were drawn out of the dark. 

She found that the case that Winde fail to circle back to the charges against the MEC was not approved.
