Ever since the National Student Financial Aid Scheme was introduced a lot of people have been able to futher their studies without worrying about exorbitant fees. Unfortunately this is not the case for everyone, there's still a lot that needs to be improved to ensure that everyone is catered to. If you are considering on furthering your studies next year, we have shared how the process works below.
Getting started with your application
Just like any institution, they have to prove that indeed you are a deserving candidate for the bursary and this includes filling an application form. It goes like this:
— Go to NSFAS official website which is www.nsfas.org.za. You have to create your own profile that must be updated with the relevant information.
— Now that you have an account, you can navigate to the application page that will guide you through the process.
— Fill in all the required information (make sure that there are no grammatical errors by double checking).
Documents that you must have with you
Having all the documents with you is one of the most important step that must be followed properly. Fortunately for you, we have named the key ones below:
— Your ID number must be typed as it is to avoid derailing the process. Your guardians ID is also going to be required.
— If they are working, a bank statement that is not older than 3 months must be attached.
— For people that are suffering with disabilities, you need to complete a form that proves that. Don't worry, it can be found on the website.
When are the applications opening
Before writing this article we have confirmed with NSFAS whether they are accepting applications or not. They have stated that the dates have not been finalized because they are still working on system upgrades that will make users experience more smoother. You can keep an eye on our articles (we will definitely publish an article once they are open).
We hope this information has been helpful to you. If you still have any questions don't hesitate to ask via the comments section below, we'd love to assist you.
