Tensions high at the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal

The News24 reported of the high tensions that have rocked the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal.It is reported that the students are not pleased over a number of issues which include the 2021 registration and the payments of the fees.

The institution is reported to have highlighted that it is one of the best in the country as far as making compromise is concerned.

In accordance to the announcement that was made by the Minister of Higher Education, it was stated that the students that qualify for the National Student Financial Aid Scheme should be allowed to register even without making payments for the registration fee.

The University of Kwa-Zulu Natal spokesperson, Normah Zondo is reported to have revealed that it is not only the registration fee that the students have to pay.

She is reported by News24 as having said that the registration fee is not the only advance payment that has to be paid by the students.

She was reported to be responding to the question that was posted to her regarding why they were refusing to register some students despite qualifying for the National Student Financial Aid Scheme.

The financial issues between the National Student Financial Aid Scheme and the Kwa-Zulu Natal University is having negative impacts on the students who are supposed to be benefiting from the scheme.

Instead of having to focus on their studies ,the students find themselves worrying over their ability to be admitted into the University to compete their studies.

The News24 gave an example of a Law Student at the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal, Kayleigh Runjeeth and about twenty more of them who expressed worry that they may not register at the University for the 2021 academic year.

They are reported to have highlighted that they may fail to be registered as a result of the financial issues between their institution and the National Student Financial Aid Scheme.

The students are reported to have also highlighted that they are always told to make certain payments of money upfront for their registration to be a success.

They insist that the money that they are made to pay should be paid and covered by the National Student Financial Aid Scheme.

When they asked why they were being made to pay money that should be covered by the National Student Financial Aid Scheme, they were informed that it was never paid.

When they contacted the National Student Financial Aid Scheme to inquire why the full payments were not made , they allege that the Scheme said payment were made in full.

In accordance to the National Student Financial Aid Scheme, the students whom they fund must not make any form of registration fee.

The scheme is reported to be providing full bursary for the students. The students are not supposed to make any form of payment or accumulate debts that should be covered by the Scheme.
