The minister of Basic education Angie Motshekga has been gunning for schools to get back to normal attendance for months now. The minister has never been happy with the closure of schools or any part where learners attend schools in shifts.
The current social distancing metres as per the World Health Organisation is 1,5 metres. The minister in an effort to have all learners back in class is attempting to reduce this distance to half a metre.
The minister of Basic Education Angie Motshekga is trying to create a back door to have all learners in school. She is doing this by attempting to reduce the social distancing to half a metre. Half a metre is hugging distance, this means learners will be sitting the same they would without the pandemic.
With Delta variant still running rampant in the country this move by the minister is ill advised and cause prove catastrophic.
It is up to parents and School Governing Bodies to intervene and stop the minister in her tracks before this move is gazette and made in to law.
