The SA Social Security Agency (Sassa) made the declaration on Monday after more than 3.7-million applications were declined for August.

During his public location on Sunday, President Cyril Ramaphosa said out of the 13-million applications, 8.3-million were supported and installments have begun to the beneficiaries. 


He said the reasons that applications have been declined were "mostly in light of the fact that candidates have other distinguished types of revenue or are enrolled for help like Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) and National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS)".
