The foremost critic and politician, Mmusi Maimane is insisting that the minister of Basic Education, Angie Motshekga must go, perhaps she is not doing enough according to the politician's own assessment. Mr Mmusi Maimane further disclosed that the education level in the country needs to be raised, and this can only happen if Mmusi Maimane is fired from her position as minister. He added, “We must raise the standard of education in this country. We must end the 30% pass mark”. Different people have been clamouring for the minister to be relieved of her duty by the president, but over the years nothing was done. During the last cabinet reshuffle, many people were very hopeful it was going to happen, but they got disappointed. Now, many people are joining Mmusi Maimane in this call, saying that they are in full support of her being dropped as minister of Basic Education.
Another person is giving a vivid explanation of her side why she wants the minister to be fired. She wrote, “I agree. Year after year schools don't all get books and come end of the year, she's all smiles shaming provinces that performed less, forgetting they never got books, classes under trees and some schools, just no teachers. Sies on her”. The criticism against her is mounting, this could be because of the recently released result. Many people said that they were disappointed at the outcome of the results. Another person added, “Our schools are not safe. No Parent should live through this nightmare.
No parent should fear a school stabbing or a school shooting. No teacher should teach in an environment with guns and knives.
This government has failed to secure schools accordingly. It’s heartbreaking”.
