Blade Nzimande Minister of Higher Education condemns the racist urinating incident at Stellenbosch

Such behavior or people have no place at our colleges,' the ministry said in a statement.

On Wednesday, Nzimande criticized a racist incident at Stellenbosch University's Huis Marais men's dormitory on Sunday, in which a white student, Theuns du Toit, urinated in the room of a black student, Babalo Ndwayana, and on his study materials.

"Such behavior or people have no place at our colleges," the ministry stated in a statement.

"The incident, like similar previous incidents, raises fundamental questions about the continued persistence of oppressive social structures in parts of South African society that foster a disposition in which a young person endows himself with the right to behave in the most egregious and abominable racist manner against a fellow human being," Nzimande said.

Where does racist behavior come from if no one is born racist, as former South African president Nelson Mandela accurately argued?

On Sunday morning, 15 May, Ndwayana (20) was sleeping in his Huis Marais men's residence room when Du Toit came at around 4 a.m. and urinated on his books and a laptop on his desk.
