The Department of Basic Education issued a last week suggesting that the matric results for 2021 Should not be released on social media platforms. According to the department of education, this is done to protect learners from suicides, prevent fraud, and to prevent depression. The department issued a statement explaining all the possible reasons why releasing matric results should not be published.
However, this decision was challenged in court. The Pretoria High Court ruled this morning that all matric results should be published on social media platforms.
Some people don't see any problem regarding this, they think is a good idea idea to publish the results, all this years the results were published. In the years before 2016 the results were written school name and then follows the learners name and surname. The department changed the names to exam numbers.
People think it is now safe since no one know the exam numbers of all learners. There is privacy now, people still think the department is hiding something, why should they suggest such a thing now. Apparently there is rumors that only 30% of matric pass rate for the year 2021. Do you think the department is hiding something?
