An outline of the readiness of Eastern Cape to open schools tomorrow

Schools that are located in the coastal regions such as Eastern Cape , Northern Cape , Western Cape and Kwa-Zulu are scheduled to reopen on Wednesday the 19th of January 2022 . The Eastern Cape Education department is reported to have revealed that it was ready for the 2022 academic year despite having some challenges .

The province was reported to have had been affected by some storms and they had impacts on some schools .In the report by the SABC , it was stated the department was in the middle of trying to accommodate learners whose schools were affected by the storms .It was stated that even though the schools will be reopening on Wednesday , there were almost 100 schools that were affected by the storms .The damages that were caused by the bad weather on the Eastern Cape schools were reported to be more than R100-million .

The Department of Education held a media briefing in East London and it was confirmed that it was ready for the reopening of schools .All measures are reported to have been put in place from stationary and Covid-19 compliance .Dr Naledi Mbude revealed she was confident in the manner in which her province had prepared for the reopening . Dr Naledi Mbude is the Head Of Department for the Eastern Cape Education Department.

She said that despite the challenges in terms of scholar transport , insufficient funds in the department and the storms that damaged some of the schools , she said that measures were put in place .Dr Naledi mentioned that they made various consultations with different stakeholders and got some funding which were used to cover up for some expenses .The department has confidence that despite the challenges , they are ready to reopen . Schools will be opening tomorrow and the department is ready to go .
