Department of basic education wants everyone in the country to possess a matric certificate. To achieve this, the department is inviting those who wrote matric but failed from 2008 to register for the May/June examination.
Things have also changed for those who may not make it in the current matric. Registration for supplementary will no longer be done at the center a learner was attending.
Those who fail and wish to write supplementary examinations will be expected to write at Further Education and training centres.
Moving the examination away from schools will bring relief to already overloaded educators. Teachers had to administer this examinations together with the mid year examination.
The minister of Basic Education Angie Motshekga will will announce the Matric pass rate tonight at 18H00. Those who don't make it should not despair. A second chance is available, and there is no qualifying criteria.
Good luck to the class of 2021.
