Department of Basic Education has announced after discussions that it has taken a decision to postpone the reopening of schools through out South Africa. This happens because of the rise of the second wave of covid 19.
Private
that have already opened will have to close and will open at a later stage. The
DBE together with NCCC have concluded that saving lives is the number 1
priority .
The newly
proposed dates are as follows:
- School
- Management Teams (SMT) – Monday 25th January 2021
- Teachers
- – Monday 1 February 2021
- Learners
- – Monday 15 February 2021
According
to Mhaule the majority of educators have attended funerals and other ceremonies
which resulted in others testing positive, as a result we have to put the lives
of children first. Parents might feel better as many were anxious about schools
amid the second wave pf covid 19. Lets all stand together to fight against this
life threatening disease, we will win the battle.
