The Department of Basic Education released a media statement announcing the plans regarding the Minister Mrs Angie Motshekga on Monday the 18th of October 2021. There was a notification that the Minister of Basic Education will be making the deliverance of the Charlotte Maxeke memorial lecture at Glen High School in Pretoria .
Charlotte Maxeke was the first woman in South Africa to graduate with a B.Sc. She was the first woman as well to fight for the empowerment of women in South Africa. The Minister will be delivering a lecture on the life of the icon at Glen High in Pretoria .
The memorial lecture is part of the International Month of Girl Child . The year 2021 according to the media statement has been dedicated to the Charlotte Maxeke by the government . The media is invited by the Department of Basic Education to be part of the proceedings as indicated in the media statement.
