MATRIC- here's the best performers and worse performers

The Minister of Basic Education Angie Motshekga reported the matric results for the class of 2021 on Thursday evening, 20 January. There was a slight enhancement for the earlier year - with the pass rate moving from 76,2% in 2020 to 76,4% in 2021.

Motshekga said 897 163 students selected to compose the National Senior Certificate (NSC) assessment, including 163 965 low maintenance up-and-comers and added that the Class of 2021 kept the pattern of further developing pass rates going.

Understand MORE: 36,% of students accomplished admission to Bachelors studies, second just to the rate accomplished in 2019. While 25,2% of students accomplished admission to recognition studies and 14,8% achieved admission to study towards a higher endorsement.

Free State was the best performing area with a 85,7% pass rate - improving with 0,6% from 2020.

Gauteng came in second with 82,8% - dropping by 0,1% from 2020.

Western Cape was third with 81,2% - it improved by 1,3% on 2020.

North West accomplished fourth spot with 78,2% - accomplishing the third most noteworthy enhancement for 2020 with 2,0%

KwaZulu-Natal was fifth with 76,8% - it declined by 0,8 from 2020.

Mpumalanga was 6th at 73,6% - a decrease of 0,1% from 2020.

The Eastern Cape accomplished the seventh spot with 73,0% - it had the second-best improvement with 4,9% on 2020.

The Northern Cape completed second last with 71,4% - it had the greatest improvement with 5,4% on 2020.
