MEC Lesufi has committed to place all Gauteng learners by the end of January

As the schools reopened today there are some learners who have not been placed in schools due to a variety of issues, as early as as Monday morning parents queued outside the Gauteng Department of Education District offices to seek placements for their children.

Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi has made a commitment to ensure that all learners are placed before the end of january,he says he is aware that there are learners who are still at home.

He says that some of the placements have been hindered by choices and preferences of parents and learners and that is something they have no control over. He has apologised to parents of 700 learners who have not been placed.

The Premier of Gauteng also did oversight work at some schools around Gauteng, he has made comments on rotation attendance and says that kind of system is not working. He says there should be a measure of normality with regards to returning learners back to class.
