Four Year-Old Botshelo is UNISA’s Youngest and Brightest “Student”

On a typical morning, mom of four year-old Botshelo Mankuroane is surprised to find her UNISA study material stashed on the pre-scholar’s pink bag; neatly labelled “Botshelo” in big navy letters. The mom, Boitomelo Thelma Mankuroane proceeds to ask the toddler, “Where are you taking my books?” to which Botshelo responds, “Mama, it’s UNISA.” Botshelo further tells her mother that she intends to show the material to her teacher — informing her that she indeed goes to UNISA.

This is all captured in a wholesome video that went viral on TikTok, melting hearts of many South Africans. The video also landed in the eyes on UNISA News, to which they wrote an article about calling Botshelo: Unisa’s youngest and brightest “student.”

“I’m a student a student at Unisa. Whenever I study or write assignments, I always explain to Botshelo that I’m currently busy with books. I also am always talking about Unisa in our daily converstion about her day at pre-school. This is something I do as a way of instilling a desire to learn and study further,” Boitomelo Thelma Mankuroane told UNISA News.
