SASSA|| The People's Campaign Demands Basic Income Grant of R1500 a month. The basic income grant should be paid to all those who are between the ages of 18 and 59 years and are unemployed.
The movement said that unemployed people were suffering massively from mental health sickness because of their situation. They said that for those who received the R350 grant, it was not enough, very little to provide for themselves, let alone their families. This was made worse by months of unpaid grant monies. Grant beneficiaries have to wait for months before they get paid. Some people gave had their grant applications approved but have not been paid for over three months.
The basic income grant was the thing that would improve the plight of the poor and the unemployed. A basic guaranteed grant of R1500 per month and all unemployed are entitled to it. People were not surviving On the current R350 and the People's Campaign wants the basic income grant to be implemented now
