Lucknow: 11 February, 2021 Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ji has said that there are immense possibilities in organic farming. Adopting it will go a long way in realizing Prime Minister's resolve to double farmers' income. He has directed to make effective efforts to promote organic farming. The Chief Minister was reviewing the works of various departments at a high-level meeting convened at Lok Bhawan here today. He said that the need of the hour is to encourage organic farming. People are giving preference to the use of organic agricultural products. Keeping in mind the convenience of farmers, it is necessary to have a decentralized system of certifying agricultural produce as organic. Stressing the establishment of laboratory at the Board level in this regard, he said that the establishment of laboratories certifying organic agricultural products should be speeded up in all the divisions. Chief Minister said that agricultural diversification is a good means of increasing the income of farmers. Farmers of many districts of the state, doing innovative experiments, grew such crops, which had the impression that they are not suited to the local climate and land. The cultivation of strawberry, dragon fruit and black rice has given a new message to the country and the world. The organization of Strawberry Festival in Jhansi district has brought widespread awareness among farmers of Bundelkhand region regarding the cultivation of this fruit. He also instructed to organize the Dragon Fruit Festival in the state. The Chief Minister said that the present State Government has been striving from the very beginning to provide the benefit of MSP to more and more farmers. Presently, procurement of paddy under the price support scheme is being conducted at a rapid pace. He has given instructions to ensure proper arrangement of safe storage of purchased paddy. He said that all preparations for wheat procurement in the purchase year 2021-22 should be made in a time bound manner. The Chief Minister said that the State Government is committed to strengthening the rural economy through milk production. He has instructed to strengthen the milk sector by forming milk committees in as many villages as possible. The Chief Minister said that PPP mode should be considered in connection with the establishment of universities in the boards where there are no universities related to higher education. He said that Uttar Pradesh Police and Forensic Science Institute being set up in the state should be developed as Center of Excellence.
