The departure of Mr Babalo Madikizela from the government is a great loss for the people of EC

This is another word for reshuffling. I have seen many reshufflings, but I have never seen the person doing the reshuffling do it to themselves. Ten years later, we should have done well by the people of Marikana and the areas that send workers to the platinum belt, which is mostly the Eastern Cape. From the comments about who is to blame and who should be prosecuted, it is clear that as a country, we are not ready for the much-talked-about "social compact." Most of our people's problems have gotten worse in the last ten years. It seems that society has become numb to the plight of the poor.

If there is one economic sector that needs to lead the country in this way, it is the mineral-energy complex. Not only has it made a lot of money over the more than 100 years it has been operating in this country, but it has also done so with the help of a very oppressive and exploitative political system, the effects of which are still felt all over the country. We need bold leadership and decisiveness in this area.

The indecision and lack of consistency at the top of the government is unacceptable. It is a breeding ground for social unrest and will surely lead to a fire if it isn't dealt with quickly.

"The truth is that since 1994, South Africa has been trying to keep the socially flammable tinder of poverty and inequality from catching fire. We must deal decisively with the two opportunity diseases of modern South Africa: poor state performance and corruption. I think the whole thing is being politicized without looking closely at the main causes of the massacre. As long as narrow political interests and grandstanding continue, the plight of the Marikana victims will always come second, which is sad.
