Randburg traders caught by surprise as police descend into full force

Operation Okae Molao caught many Randburg traders by surprise as police descended on shops with the hope of counterfeit goods. 

Randburg is in the north of Johannesburg and it is known to attract several traders and shoppers.

The law enforcement authorities were accompanied by members of SARS as well as other stakeholders in the operation. 

The law enforcement agents went shop by shop looking for counterfeit goods. And they got a handful. 

Many items were confiscated during the operation. 

Branded local and international items that include sneakers, clothing, watches and handbags were seized. Two suspects were arrested and charged with possession and trading in counterfeit goods.

But the operation did not stop with the shops. It spilled to the streets were 260 suspects were arrested for other serious and violent crimes.

Operation Okae Molao is an initiative meant to tackle unlawlessness in Gauteng. Many goods have been seized during the roll-out operations and many offenders have also been arrested.
