Shoprite checkers is one of the biggest retail stores in South Africa. Shoprite started from small beginnings in 1979 with the purchase of a chain of 8 Cape-based supermarkets for R1 million. In 1983 the Group opened its first branch outside the Western Cape-in Hartswater in the Northern Cape. The company has grown dramatically and has more than a million customers.
Shoprite has been bringing the lowest prices in quality food and essential home goods to its customers. It became the largest grocery retailer in Africa with over 500 stores and over 20 million loyal shoppers.
The company doesn't disappoint when it comes to giving its customers lower prices. Shoprite has also had a liquor store where they only sell alcohol.
Many people were shocked after seeing the prices of expensive alcohol at the lowest. Since the ban on the sale of alcohol was lifted many retailers have been selling their stocks at a lower price.
This may be because many shops ordered too much stock during the festival not knowing that the sale of alcohol will be banned. So many are trying to clear the old stock so that they can have new ones for Easters or maybe some of them are about to expire.
This is great news for those who are drinking because they can even buy in bulk.
