SABC retrenchments make it top of the trending list once again

Due to the unfortunate pandemic and national lockdown, a lot of people found themselves in safety situations. Most people lost lives, jobs and most companies were forced to let go of a few staff due to financial difficulties. The South African Broadcasting Coperation (SABC) was one of the companies.

Yesterday Desiree Chauke broke down while giving her bulletin on SABC, as she told the viewers that it would be the last day for more than 600 employees due to retrenchment.

It was an emotional moment again especially after Noxolo Grootboom also announced her departure from the Company. This immediately became a topic on Twitter with the hashtag #SABCRetrenchments.

Following the hashtag. Citizens and celebrities are sympathizing with those being retrenched. Bonang Matheba said "...the SABC played such a huge role in my career, it's so painful to witness all this! My thoughts go out to all the staff & families impacted by the #SABCRetrenchments..."

Another media personality said "It’s a sad reality that hardworking people suffer today because of years of poor decisions & corruption at the top. People who brought the SABC back to glory after those managers left the building with fat payouts, are jobless because of them. Hayi... life #SABCRetrenchments"

It is very sad that a lot of people are losing their jobs and getting retrenched. Now the question is who survived the retrenchment?
