Pfizer producers are smiling all their way to the bank as the vaccine climbed about 9% in the four trading days through Tuesday with trades totaling up to $63million of the shares. Since then it has shown to be the favored COVID-19 vaccine stock. The day trading crowd sold off more positions than they bought in Moderna and BioNTech and it makes sharp changes in fortunes. The two vaccines have amassed triple-digit gains this year, a rally the nearly $280 billion valued Pfizer missed out on with a scant 34% gain, despite being the first along with BioNTech to be approved for COVID-19 shot in the US. The US has said it will begin to give booster shots to those who are already vaccinated in September.
The Pfizer vaccine sells at about an 8% premium to the average analyst price target, compared to more than 30% for Moderna and 18% for BioNTech. The recent closing of the gap may not spell the end of the rally as Wall Street is already adjusting its models with Pfizer getting a new Wall Street high price target of $61 from Cantor Fitzgerald analyst Louise Chen on Tuesday. The drugmaker channel advancements and product sales continue to exceed everyone's expectations.
I hope this escalation in Pfizer sales is not going to make the producers temper with the drug so that they can meet the demand. People like to do the unthinkable to get money, if Pfizer is the preferred drug for the COVID-19 vaccine then the quality must not change or ingredients adjusted so that they make more out of less. The vaccines have been said to have side effects already so we do not want surprises on what already people say. Pharmaceuticals companies of BioNTech and Pfizer have sent some data to the US Food and Drug Administration to approve the evaluation for a third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
A word has been stated that those who received the third jab of the mRNA vaccine showed a favorable safety profile and robust immune responses. Vaccination is the most effective means to prevent COVID-19 infection, especially severe disease and hospitalization, and its profound impact on protecting lives is indisputable. As we have seen the threat of the different variants such as the Delta and the possible emergence of other variants in the future, we must remain vigilant against this highly contagious virus.
A booster vaccine will help reduce infection and disease rates in people who have previously been vaccinated and better control the spread of virus variants during the coming season. Side effects that happen within a day or two after getting vaccinated are normal signs that the body is building protection and should go away within a few days. Those who got vaccinated already should get the same product as the vaccines are not interchangeable.
