Motorist can expect a rise in petrol on Wednesday 3 February 2021. The Energy Department explained that it was due to the increase in the average international product prices for petrol, paraffin and diesel.
Petrol will increase by 81 cents a litre, meanwhile the price of diesel will go up between 58 and 59 cents a litre. Moreover, illuminating paraffin will rise between 58 cents and more per litre.
A kilogram of LPG will cost you 193 more cents.
The department of Energy also stated that prices for fuel increased during the period under review.
The rand has depreciated versus the US dollar while in the period under review, on average, when compared to the previous period. The average rand/US dollar exchange rate for the period 31 December 2020 to 28 January 2021 was 15.0872 compared to 14.9391 during the previous period.
The AA has also recognized that the rand dropped to an all-time low of over R19 to the dollar last April and the currency has since appreciated to pre-Covid-19 levels.
