An elevator, also called a lift, is a car that moves in a vertical shaft to carry passengers or freight between the levels of a multistory building. Most modern elevators are propelled by electric motors, with the aid of a counterweight, through a system of cables and sheaves (pulleys). A young man appears to be upset after posting a picture of himself stuck in the lift. The worst part was, he was alone. According to him is now water under the bridge.
The engineer who installed this lift cut corners. The new lifts should have a "fail safe" design, wherein in a case of power failure, the UPS must take the lift to the nearest floor landing and the doors must open. Then it can stand there and wait for power to come back.
Yeah, true, it's not the designers' fault but the budget of the building owner. They are all capable of that feature, new or old. You just have to install the elevator control panel.
