“They want to Catfish us” | MZansi exposes Pick’n’Pay after spotting this from its bakery product

The Pick n Pay Group is a retail business in the fast-moving consumer goods industry. The Group operates through multiple store formats under three brands – Pick n Pay, Boxer and TM Supermarkets. Pick n Pay also operates one of the largest online grocery platforms in sub-Saharan Africa.

We usually see many lower standard supermarkets being exposed on social media for selling expired goods, and other sorts of reasons, however we never expected to see a higher standard supermarket like Pick N Pay.

Yesterday an Indian woman, allegedly exposed the randburg picknpay for trying to lure customers to finish the hotdog rolls by adding some dessert cream on to it, so that people can buy thinking that it’s doughnuts.

This was revealed by Sohana Maharaj on Twitter yesterday as she was spitting fire against pick N pay as she went to tag the shop’s twitter handle.

“My local @PicknPay is putting dessert cream in hot dog rolls and trying to pass it off as doughnuts 😭😭😭,” she wrote,

However, as soon as the public went to recognise that indeed the bakery team has been selling the hot dog rolls with cream instead of the sweetened dough or bun with cream, they went to help make the tweet trend so that people can be aware how picknpay is scamming people.

People went to react in the comment section, denouncing picknpay and others went to call the shop a catfish, as it’s selling unpleasant hotdog rolls. Others went to expose more flops from pickpay as they went to say they also sell fruits which are rotten on the inside.

“These ones , they want to catfish us, to buy those rolls which doesn’t even a taste,” a user reacted.

See how Mzansi reacted to this tweet below:

However The picknpay board of directors, finally replied to this bizarre tweet and have promised to take serious action against the store.

“Hi Sohana, thanks for taking the time to flag this with us. Kindly DM us your number & the store name to enable us to address this with the Bakery Manager of this store,” says pick n pay.

What’s your view about this matter, don’t forget to leave your thoughts in the comment section.
