Fifty year old (58) Bertina Engelbrecht has been appointed the new Chief Executive (CEO) of the pharmaceutical group, Clicks Limited Group. She will become the first black female in South Africa to be a leader of a retail group that is registered and listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange.
Engelbrecht is currently the Clicks group corporate affairs director and will officially take the CEO reigns in January next year 2022. The appointment of Engelbrecht follows the resignation of the former CEO Vikesh Ramsunder.
Engelbrecht first joined the pharmaceutical group in 2006 as the group's human resources director, working her way up to become the group's executive director in 2008. She holds a Master of Laws degree from the University of Cape Town and is an admitted attorney.
Engelbrecht will become South Africa’s first black female to lead a JSE-listed retail group when she resumes her duties as CEO next year.
