A 37-year-old former Facebook product manager who worked on civic integrity issues at the company has revealed that the documents indicate that Facebook is aware its platforms are used to spread hate, violence and misinformation, and that the company has attempted to conceal that evidence.
She says the first thing they should notice at Facebook over and over, was the fact that there were a lot of conflicts of interest between what is good for the public and what is good for Facebook itself. Facebook over and over again chose to optimize for its own interests, like making more cash.
Facebook has denied the reports that were claiming that it is misleading and argued that its apps do more good than harm to the community, so she actually feels like Facebook dug its own grave. All Facebook applications like Instagram and WhatsApp are currently not working because of some problems that are being experienced, users cannot send or receive any message and on Instagram they cannot even refresh their feed.
