Forget the ABSA Building, all you need is your face and mobile phone to bank at ABSA
Absa has officially introduced its facial recognition technology on its Android and iOS mobile banking apps, as well as on its website. Customers may now quickly and simply attach their distinctive face features to their mobile devices, resulting in even greater protection for them.
Specifically, according to Absa, the ID Facial Bio-metrics will employ facial mapping technology to verify and identify clients when linking a device to their Banking App, adding an additional degree of protection.
"Technology is progressing at a quicker rate than ever before, and it is our responsibility to ensure that you remain at the forefront of innovation. "As a result, we are pleased to announce the addition of the Absa ID Facial Bio-metrics to our Absa Banking App, "the company said in a statement.
Additionally, according to the bank, ID Facial Biometrics will link your unique facial features to your mobile device in order to provide an additional layer of security, which only you will be able to unlock.
According to the company, the new feature would improve the entire banking experience for customers by minimizing the number of trips to the bank to link their devices to their banking app. Absa can now safely and easily identify and authenticate you based on your unique facial characteristics.
It was stated in the statement that "the technology will recognize your face and immediately link your relevant accounts and products, allowing you to make instantaneous payments more securely and conveniently."
Absa claims that their bio-metric facial recognition technology is a world first for digital banking security, and that it has received numerous awards for it as a result. This year's Digital Banker Middle East & Africa Innovation Awards recognized it as the winner of the Best Digital Innovation Initiative in the Transaction Banking category, which it had previously won.
The following is what a user will require in order to configure Absa's ID Facial Biometrics feature:
The Absa Banking App has been updated to its current version.
Absa requires a legitimate telephone number that has been registered with them.
A photograph of identification that is acceptable to the Department of Home Affairs.
