South African visual artist Nelson Makamo was photographed with rapper JayZ this weekend. The couple attended the premiere of "The Harder They Fall." Makamo kicked off his first independent solo show "Blue" in the United States last weekend.
The most notable of his group exhibitions was in conjunction with the David Krut Print Studio with guest artists such as David Koloane, Colbert Mashile, Deborah Bell, and William Kentridge.
Traditionally, Makamo's work has been heavily influenced by the genuine innocence of children, with a particular focus on children in rural South Africa.
She Artistically she has developed her work over the years through charcoal, acrylic, watercolor, monotype, screen printing and oil.
Her personal website states that she refrains from "planning her works and prefers to be guided by the canvas and inspiration of the day."
