Afrika Arts Festival.

Kwethu Arts in partnership with 4play Theatre Productions and National Lotteries Commision proudly produced a festival at Joburg theatre that had a maltitude of social themes explored such as rape, Gender based violance, adultery and many more. The festival took a place on 26-September-2021. The name of it was Afrika Arts Festival.

Afrika Arts Festival is a versatile festival that scourts young artists from different social and education al backgrounds. The young artists go through an audition process to select those with the potential to benefit from the intensive couching process of the festival. Usually the festival selects about 60 participants, however due to Covid-19, they had to reduce the number to 30 participants.

The festival gave young artists an opportunity to show their ability in art. The performance included singing, acting and telling a story using their body which is known as Movement. Different themes were explored which was great because the audiences really enjoyed the festival. The festival perfomers names are as following and what they were perfoming:

The festival gives young artists an opportunity they rarely receive to engage, grow their artistry, network with other artists from different background and perform on a proffesional stage from a respected national theatre house.

The 2021 installation of Afrika Arts Fest was well received and the quality of performances and the overall experiences was on a proffesional level, this continues to encourage the team to improve and be more creative when planning the 2022 installation.
