R30 Million Cocaine Truck-Load Arrested

Police pounced on a truck which was en-route to Cape Town carrying a container loaded with cocaine worth over R30.4 million.

A 37 year old man has been arrested as he was driving the consignment and the truck has been seized.

The truck was arrested on the N1 in the early hours of Sunday morning as it was headed for Cape Town. The coccaine was packed in 1kg packs and they were a total of 38 of them. The suspect is due to appear at Blue Downs Magistrate on Tuesday in connection with the case.

Many have applauded the SAPS team for their efforts to take down drug dealers and people are wondering how such a large consignment passed through the national ports of entry and passed through various provinces whgile being transported.

“This haul and many others that have been recently confiscated shows that the supply chains of organised criminal groups have been severed. May I also call upon the community not to support organised criminal groups by purchasing drugs as this demand will encourage the syndicates to find new ways of providing these dangerous substances,” said Lieutenant General Lebeya.
