Toddler reunite with her mother after she was abducted for 7 months

According to reports the child was allegedly taken by a South African woman after she had offered to assist the biological mother with the infant.

The Free State Department of Social Development along with Lesotho’s Department of Social Development are preparing and following all precautionary measures so that the now 10-month-old girl will be returned to her parents, who are both Lesotho citizens, in Maseru. It is alleged that the baby was 3 months old when unnamed south African lady abducted her, under pretence to assist her.

According to Lesotho Social Development minister, Matebatso Doti, the abductor is in police custody while the baby has been placed in a place of safety in Welkom and being monitored before given back to her biological parents. South Africa and Lesotho have sign a memorandum of understanding and to work together and Lesotho is happy about the outcome of this kidnapped cases.

“All reunification processes have been finalised, including positive tests matching the baby with the biological parents and the mother also comfirn that indees she is her daughter. International Social Services have also been notified of this matter since it’s an international case,” she said.
