COVID-19 cases expected to rise in 10 days- Prof Karim

Professor Salim abdool Karim says within ten days South Africa should expect a rise in COVID-19 cases. He said this will come with the reopening of some economic sectors.

He said we need to be aware that the threat is always present. He further said we need to ensure that infections continue to decline. We expect that there may be a small increase in cases around the 28 August.

If we don't see that or if we see a small increase, we can be confident that the easing has not had a major impact. He urging south africans to continue practicing strict measures to prevent infection.

Although according to the health department 8 out of 10 people who have tested positive for COVID-19 has recovered.

Prof Karim once did a presentation during lockdown articulate that if numbers continue to increase than lockdown must continue to be implemented than at later stage he pledged his support at the president when he was opening the economy in stages.

As the economy opens today one can hope people will adjust to the regulations and continue keeping social distance and hope the COVID-19 number decrease.
