Get Jabbed Or Quit: What Are Your Thoughts About Vaccine Mandates? [OPINION]

It was recently communicated that some companies are looking into ways that can be used to ensure that the working environment is safe for everyone and this includes implementing vaccine mandates. This has been fueled by the presidents address last week after he announced that he has set up a task team that will look into making vaccines mandatory for certain activities and locations. Join us as we unpack more of the story below.

Skyrocketing unemployment rate

As per the latest statistics which where released by StatsSA, they have indicated the unemployment rate is not sitting at 34.9%. This includes people that have given up looking for work, graduates, those with matric and others with no qualifications. What does this mean for the future of the country? As it stands, no one knows where exactly we are heading. But what is for sure is that this is going to disrupt the progress that has been achieved thus far.

The pandemic and July unrest

You might be aware that the COVID-19 pandemic has been a major contributor to the unemployment rate. Ever since lockdowns where implemented, companies lost a lot of revenue which caused them to cut down on their staff. The July unrests caused a domino effect to futher derail the economic recovery plan by more than ten folds. The malls and shopping centers that where looted will take time for them to be rebuilt.

Increasing infections

We have officially entered into the festive season and scientists are worried about the number of infections that have been recorded by the National Institute For Communicable Diseases. Now that the omicron variant has been detected in a handful of countries, it's very alarming about the possible strain on the health care system.

A lot needs to be weighed before the government can go ahead with implementing vaccine mandates. Share your thoughts about this story in the comments section below and remember to follow us for more informative articles like this one published daily.
