Written by Nothando Radebe

Local elections are around the corner, people are going to vote for people they trust in their communities. For the past years years people especially young people have lost faith on the current ANC government, according to Fin 24 rate of unemployment hits record 34,4% or 7,8 million jobless people. Trends SA show that unemployment is concentrated among the youth and black African population. The labour market is also more favorable to men than women .Since the majority of young people are unemployed will ANC initiative plans to create jobs work for them to gain more votes from youth?

Social Relief Grant

This grant was firstly introduced in 2020 during first ever Locked down. It is a temporary provision of assistance intended for person in such a dire material need that they are unable to meet their families basic needs . There was a lot of challenges in the first phase of this money, people complained about lack of physical distancing and people jumped the queue and others would went home empty -handed .However, this year seems like things are much better because people are allowed to use many platforms to collect their R350 Srd grant as they can also collect their money on retailers such as Boxer and Pick n Pay .

Education Assistant phase II of the Basic Education Employment

Education Assistant program has returned as phase II ,Department seeks to provide 287 000 unemployoung people,(+/-192 000 Education Assistants and +/- 95 000 General School Assistants) employment and training opportunities in education sector, as part of the PresidentialYouth Employment Initiative (PYEI) - Basic Education Employment Stimulus (PES) ,seeking to migrate the devastating economic challenges brought about by the Covid -19 pandemic .All successful candidates will be placed in the schools for 5 months from 1 November 2021 to 31 March 2022.This initiation was first introduced on the 1st of December 2020 until March 2021 but it was extended with 1 more month until April 2021.
