Herman Mashaba Explains Why He Blames COSATU For High Unemployment Rate(44,4%)

The leader of ActionSA has yet again dropped controversial statements against the image of one of the biggest organizations or entities in South Africa. Mashaba aimed at the Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU) when he blamed the high unemployment rate in South Africa on its image.

“COSATU must take full responsibility for the 44.4% unemployment in South Africa. They have destroyed businesses since 1994, and the process made their leadership multimillionaire and billionaires at the expense of their members who are today unemployed,” said Mashaba.

The unemployment statists of South Africa were released in June 2021 whereby it was made visible that the majority of the South Africa youth is unemployed and with little or no hope of finding an employment opportunity. As if that was not enough, it also reported that the majority of South Africans (including those that survive on the child grant money) are living below the poverty lines. Mashaba blamed all that on COSATU.

Mashaba also accused the entity of laying waste to employment opportunities since 1994 and that is when the ANC became in power. It is quite alarming that Mashaba specifically chose 1994 as the year on which COSATU began destroying businesses because it was founded in 1985, he excluded the first nine years of its(COSATU) existence and that raises eyebrows. One of the reasons Mashaba claims this began when the ANC came in power is that: he seems to believe the two entities are in cahoots together.

Just about a month ago COSATU made claims that the people of South Africa should continue to vote ANC to avoid the worsening issue of unemployment.

Mashaba might have also wanted to push his political agendas when he made these accusations, he wants the ANC out of powers and credibility and that goes for any other entity that seems to be on the ANC’s side. COSATU is clearly on the ANC’s side following their statement regarding the relationship between the ANC and the unemployment rate. Mashaba was mainly trying to discredit the trade union to discredit the good statement that it (COSATU) made in favour of the ANC.
