The unemployment in South Africa is high, even graduates struggle to secure a job, because of lack of experience required for entry jobs. It is for this reason that government has partnered with companies to create internship programmes in their companies. Internship programmes are normally 12 months and if there is a position available in the company, as an intern, you have an advantage than the person who is outside of that company.
There are few companies in Cape Town that have recently advertised their internship programmes. The programmes vary from those that requires just a mere Grade 12 with good English writing skills to those that require a qualification in a specific field and a drivers license. Companies that offer these internships includes both local and international companies. The stipends are not bad also with the minimum stipend at R4000. Some of the companies include The Foschini Group, Amazon, Cape winelands District Municipality.
All the best to those who will take this opportunity and apply for internship.
